If you’re outside tonight look out for the full moon and an eclipse – traditionally known as the January Wolf Moon. This is from the Native American tradition when wolves would howl in the snow outside Indian villages. Why not let your hair down and go outside at 2.21 am and howl at the moon to celebrate the New Year. Other names for this moon are the Old Moon, Moon After Yule or Snow Moon. Just to add to the excitment there is also an eclipse tonight – best visible between about 2.30 and 4.30 – especially timed for all you insomniacs.
